Cheshire Community Foundation would like to thank everyone that donated to our Manchester Arena Attack Appeal. We chose to give the money in the form of a grant to Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation where the money will be used to run a series of interventions targeted at beneficiaries resident in Cheshire. The interventions aim to reduce distress, provide education on self-care, and facilitate planning for future needs.
Activities in the interventions will include meaning-making exercises such as the creation of “memory boxes”, undertaking shared practical tasks as a family, and the nurturing of hope for the future and post-traumatic growth through collective and concrete planning. Creating shared meaning through what some experts have called “storying” the event, is coupled with tasks that focus on active rather than passive engagement with the process of personal loss and growth.
Thank you again to everyone that donated your money really will make a difference!
