Grant Supports KidsBank’s Ellesmere Port Project Hub to Meet Growing Needs of Local Families

Cheshire Community Foundation is delighted to continue its partnership with KidsBank, providing vital funding for its Project Hub based in Ellesmere Port. In spring 2024, the community foundation awarded a grant to support KidsBank’s essential work, including its School Uniform and Christmas ‘One More Gift’ projects. This grant is a crucial part of the over £10,000 that Cheshire Community Foundation has awarded to KidsBank across three separate grants.

The latest funding will directly support the Project Hub’s operating costs, including a £3,000 contribution towards rent and utilities for the year, ensuring the charity has a stable base to continue its work. Additional funds in the grant will help cover the volunteer expenses of a dedicated driver, ensuring that vital school uniforms and Christmas gifts are delivered directly to the families who need them. The grant will also provide over £1,200 for the purchase of school uniforms, enabling KidsBank to buy much-needed items like shoes, white polo shirts, and trousers—items that are often unavailable as donations.

The demand for KidsBank’s services continues to rise significantly. In 2023, 387 children were supported with school uniform, with 43% of those referrals coming from Ellesmere Port. The charity also saw a 47% rise in the number of children referred for Christmas gift bundles, supporting 1,146 children in total, 187 of whom were from the local area.

This crucial funding will allow KidsBank to meet the growing needs of the community. Demand in 2024 is up 40% on the previous year, reflecting the increasing challenges faced by local families. With the support of Cheshire Community Foundation, KidsBank is well-equipped to continue its mission of providing essential resources to children and families in Ellesmere Port and beyond.

This partnership illustrates Cheshire Community Foundation’s commitment to empowering local organisations and ensuring they have the resources needed to meet the demands of the community, making a lasting difference in the lives of those in need.
