Cheshire Community Foundation connects the people who want to give back with the most effective grass-roots charities and not-for-profit organisations, directly helping those most in need, whilst enabling our donors to feel proud that they’ve made a real difference.
Cheshire isn’t all glamour – some key facts:
- Over 20% of children living in Ellesmere Port are living in poverty
- 5% of Warrington residents are going without food to manage financially
- Around 23,400 young people in Cheshire aged 0-24 have a mental health illness
As one of the most recent Community Foundations to be established in the country, Cheshire Community Foundation made headlines by its outstanding start and achievements. Since the Foundation started grant-making in October 2012 we have built an endowment of £4.5m and awarded over £3.5 million in grants to more than 800 charitable organisations.
The Board is responsible and accountable for the strategic direction of Cheshire Community Foundation and collectively setting and monitoring the Foundation’s vision, mission, values and strategies. Most Trustees are business leaders from the county who work alongside the Chair and Chief Executive, bringing experience in industry, commerce, the professions or employment matters from a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives. Our Trustees are key ambassadors for the Foundation who are prepared to speak on our behalf to potential donors.
Due to three members of the Board completing their terms of office, the Board is looking to appoint a Chair and two new Trustees who hold leadership roles in the public, private or voluntary sector with a connection to Cheshire and Warrington. The Board is looking to appoint individuals who are committed to strengthening and enriching Cheshire and Warrington communities by inspiring, managing and directing local philanthropy, so that it has the most impact in areas of greatest need. Key skills for new Board members include financial strategy and management expertise and an interest in and ability to make connections and influence people with relationship, sales or fundraising experience desirable. Please note that, whilst Trustees’ expenses are met, these appointments are not remunerated.
