At Cheshire Community Foundation we know that giving is a very personal thing, and we seek to make it straightforward and enjoyable.
Our aim is to support your philanthropy, helping you to maximise the impact of your generosity by drawing on our grant-making expertise and knowledge of the need in Cheshire and Warrington. We can offer you a host of options to support causes that lie close to your heart, often within a chosen location.
We review the grant applications, provide summaries of the projects, perform extensive due diligence to thoroughly check their eligibility, follow their progress and report back to you on the impact your generosity has had. You can visit projects and see for yourself the positive impact that your giving achieves.
All our donors receive an annual report, demonstrating the impact that their gift has made and sharing stories of the projects and people they have helped.
Your Giving Options
We are grateful for all donations, of any value.
Donations under £10,000 can be given to support any of our thematic funds such as Class of 2030: Young Minds Matter or place-based funds, focussing on a particular area within Cheshire and Warrington.
You can also make a one-off donation under £500, or a regular monthly donation through our Just Giving page.
Donors wishing to give £10,000 or more can develop their own immediate impact fund, choosing what to support and over what duration the fund will be spent.
For larger funds or where donors wish to make a longer-term impact on their local community, we can create an endowment fund, where the capital is invested and the income earned is awarded in grants.

A lasting impact
If you would like your donation to have a lasting impact you can create your own named endowment fund, by giving a single or multiple donations over a period of time. The capital is invested and the income earned is awarded in grants. It is a sustainable and sustained donation that has a long-lasting impact for the community, providing a continual annual income for grant-making.
The Foundation will work with you to establish the funding criteria of your Fund, and will produce annual Impact Reports on the investment and impact of your giving. The CCF currently holds £4 million in endowment, most of which is restricted into our specific 20 named funds.
We work closely with you to identify the key causes or areas which you wish to support through your philanthropy, summarised in a Fund Agreement.
Our stewardship of your investment
Our Investment Committee is responsible for managing the Foundation’s investments, ensuring your endowment gift performs as well as possible to reap the best returns for grant-making. Committee members have considerable experience in wealth management, investment, managing and monitoring Fund Managers, and stewarding clients’ funds. Our investment returns have consistently performed above benchmark, thanks to robust and prudent policies and protocols.
The Foundation’s Annual Report & Accounts are audited each year, and our robust governance and management processes are monitored through the UK Community Foundation’s Quality
Accreditation programme which is endorsed by the Charity Commission.
There are various tax incentives which may make your giving more attractive. For example an additional rate taxpayer can create a charitable fund of £125,000 for a cost of £68,750, providing leverage of over 80%. This is achieved as follows:
Donation | £100,000 |
Gift Aid (25%) | £25,000 |
Total to CCF | £125,000 |
Additional Rate Tax Relief (25% of the full amount including Gift Aid) | £31,250 |
Cost to Donor | £68,750 |
