The Cheshire Community Foundation is seeking a new Treasurer to join the Board of Trustees. Can You Help?
This would be a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accountant to operate at a strategic level, utilising their financial skills and experience to help improve the quality of life of those most in need in Cheshire, with an expected time commitment of 1 – 2 days per month.
We connect the people who want to give back with the most effective grass-roots charities and not-for-profit organisations, directly helping those most in need, whilst enabling our donors to feel proud that they’ve made a real difference.
Make a difference by joining our Board driving forward this exciting, impactful and rapidly growing Charitable Foundation, which is making a real difference to those most in need in Cheshire and Warrington.
Cheshire isn’t all glamour – some key facts:
Over 20% of children living in Ellesmere Port are living in poverty
- 5% of Warrington residents are going without food to manage financially
- Around 23,400 young people in Cheshire aged 0-24 have a mental health illness
As one of the most recent Community Foundations to be established in the country, Cheshire Community Foundation made headlines by its outstanding start and achievements. Since the Foundation started grant-making in October 2012 we have built an endowment of £4.5m and awarded over £4.5 million in grants to more than 900 charitable organisations.
The Board is responsible and accountable for the strategic direction of Cheshire Community Foundation and collectively setting and monitoring the Foundation’s vision, mission, values and strategies. Most Trustees are business leaders from the county who work alongside the Chair and Chief Executive, bringing experience in industry, commerce, the professions or employment matters from a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives. Our Trustees are key ambassadors for the Foundation who are prepared to speak on our behalf to potential donors.
Due to our existing Treasurer completing their term of office, the Board is looking to appoint a new Treasurer who has experience in a financial leadership role in the public, private or voluntary sector with a connection to Cheshire and Warrington. The Board is looking to appoint an individual who is committed to strengthening and enriching Cheshire and Warrington communities by providing an oversight of our approach to managing and directing local philanthropy, so that it has the most impact in areas of greatest need. Key skills for this Treasurer role include financial strategy and management expertise alongside an interest in and ability to make connections and influence people. Please note that this role is likely to require a time commitment of around two or three days per month and whilst Trustees’ expenses are met, this appointment is not remunerated.
If you are interested in helping shape and deliver the Foundation’s ambitious growth plans and making a difference to lives across Cheshire and Warrington as a Trustee, please contact our staff team on 01606 330607, who are managing this recruitment and can send you a recruitment pack or arrange for you to have an informal conversation with one of our current Trustees. Please apply by submitting your CV and covering letter to email@example.com by Wednesday 4th September 2019.
