As well as managing the national Assura Community Fund, we were honoured to administrate the Assura grants linked to the Rugby League World Cup which will take place this summer.
Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) has today announced the projects to be funded by their Official Community Health Partner, Assura plc, as the first phase of this exciting project gets underway.
The Assura Community Fund launched a RLWC2021 Grants Programme, back in January of 2021, with a minimum of £100,000 available to help charitable and voluntary sector organisations deliver health and wellbeing activities.
The grants have been put in place to educate and teach skills that will contribute towards improving emotional health and wellbeing, gaining support for life challenges and providing increased activities and opportunities to improve self-confidence, self-esteem and belonging.
Grants have been given to health projects working from or with rugby league community clubs, existing recipients of the RLWC2021 CreatedBy Capital Grants Programme, and within the eighteen RLWC2021 host towns and cities.
Some of the fantastic projects to be funded by the Assura Community Fund grants include help for older people coping with loneliness and isolation, volunteering and learning opportunities for disadvantaged young people, support for young adults to get ready for work, veteran wellbeing projects and summer activity camps for children, to name but a few.
The partnership aligns with RLWC2021’s Mental Fitness Charter which is educating people to look after their own mental fitness, and of those around them, at a time when mental and physical health is such a priority.
