Cheshire Community Foundation achieves Triple A in the Foundation Practice Rating

We are thrilled to announce that Cheshire Community Foundation has been awarded a Triple A rating in Year Five of the Foundation Practice Rating. We achieved an A grade in each of the three domains of diversity, accountability and transparency, and an A grade overall. We are one of only three foundations in the entire country to achieve this.

Our result

The Foundation Practice Rating (FPR) assesses 100 UK grant-making charitable foundations every year on their practices around diversity, accountability and transparency. Achieving an A in every domain and an A overall is the highest possible outcome, and one that reflects years of dedicated effort from our whole team and board.

What this means for us

Fellow Triple A recipients Wiltshire and Swindon Community Foundation described it as a “Michelin Star moment” and that is exactly how it feels for us too. It is a recognition that being a great grant-maker is not just about the grants we make, but how we make them. This award demonstrates that we are living up to our values of fairness and inclusion, and that we are communicating our commitment to those values for everyone to see. 

Sector progress

This year’s Foundation Practice Rating results are the strongest in the initiative’s five-year history, showing significant improvements in diversity, accountability and transparency practices across the UK grant-making sector.

Danielle Walker Palmour, Director of Friends Provident Foundation, which established the FPR, said:

“Five years ago, the Foundation Practice Rating found that as foundations we had work to do to improve our practices, especially in diversity. These results show that as a sector, we’re making headway. There’s still work to do, but improvements have been made. We know that how we fund matters just as much as what we fund.”
